Hawzah News Agency – Stressing on mutual cooperation with IRIU, Dr Abd al-Zohreh al-Tamimi, head of higher education department at Imam Hussein holy shrine, noted: “Imam Hussein holy shrine runs two academic centers – University of Warith Alanbiyaa and Al-Zahraa (AS) University for women. Given the existing capacities, there are numerous areas for cooperation in various fields”.
“Imam Hussein holy shrine has established Al-Zahraa (AS) University to train expert women in a women-friendly environment. The center presently has over one thousand students in the faculties of pharmacy, paramedical and administrative sciences”, said al-Tamimi in a meeting with IRIU’s officials, as he pointed to the proximity of missions and activities between the two Iraqi universities and IRIU.
The Iraqi professor further referred to IRIU’s successful record in teaching the Persian language to non-Persians, stating that Imam Hussein holy shrine needed to run some Persian learning courses and could meet the demand through cooperation with the university in Mashhad.
Dr al-Tamimi also talked about the great variety of academic fields in IRIU, especially at postgraduate level, and called for joint scientific-research projects through professor exchange, joint conferences and intensive courses.
Further in his remarks, the Iraqi figure announced that Imam Hussein holy shrine would grant full scholarships to outstanding graduates from the two universities in Iraq. “As IRIU has been a frontrunner in opening Holy Shrines Management academic field, we can also grant scholarships to Iraqi students to study in Mashhad so that we can put their expertise to use in Iraq”.
Elsewhere Dr Mohammad Ghorbanzadeh, deputy of Higher Education Department at IRIU noted: “Having over two decades of successful academic experience under its belt, IRIU is the only non-governmental and internationally-certified university in Iran, which has over 10,000 students in two separate branches for boys and girls, studying in over 60,000 academic fields in undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate levels”.
He added that 17 percent of IRIU’s students are non-Iranians with eight different nationalities and said 590 Iraqi students had already graduated from the university.

Head of higher education department at Imam Hussein holy shrine in Iraq has expressed readiness to have joint scientific-research cooperation with Imam Reza International University (IRIU) in northeastern city of Mashhad, Iran.
